Vice President Joe Biden
has a message for all Americans — hire a vet. His PSA about doing just that begins running Sunday (Oct. 30) on the History Channel, and Zap2it
has the first look at the spot.
“Far too often when veterans come home from war they cannot find a job,” Biden says. “That’s not only morally wrong it’s a terrible waste for our country.”
The PSA will air twice a day until Veterans Day, Friday, Nov. 11, and is part of the cable channel’s veterans campaign. This includes Take a Vet to School, a program that has had vets visit some 10,000 schools where they can tell students their stories.
“His focus on the issue of veterans’ employment is particularly important now that so many of our enlisted men and women are coming home,” Libby O’Connell, History Channel’s chief historian, says in a prepared statement.
That 2007 program led to Thank a Veteran at Work, and so far 700 corporations have participated.
Last year First Lady Michelle Obama
and Dr. Jill Biden
, the vice president’s wife, filmed a PSA for the station thanking veterans.
