“The Woman in Black” is the first big-screen project for Daniel Radcliffe since he wrapped the “Harry Potter” franchise. The movie is based on the 1983 novel by Susan Hill. There is also a still-running stage adaptation that started in 1987 and a TV movie version in 1989.
(In a fun bit of trivia, guess who played Radcliffe’s part in the TV movie? His on-screen “Harry Potter” father, Adrian Rawlins.)
The plot is that lawyer Arthur Kipps (Radcliffe) visits the Drablow house in remote England to settle the affairs of the deceased Alice Drablow. While there, he is haunted by the ghost of the woman in black. Whenever her spectre is seen, a child dies.
Let us tell you – it’s super creepy. The stage version (stage version!) gave us nightmares. And this new trailer is doing nothing to make us think the movie will be any different.
“The Woman in Black” opens nationwide Feb. 3, 2012.
