NBC’s reworking of “The Munsters” has added another high-profile Bryan behind the scenes.
Bryan Singer (“Superman Returns,” “X-Men”) will direct the pilot and serve as an executive producer alongside creator Bryan Fuller, Deadline reports. The pilot will be Singer’s first directorial effort for TV since 2007, when he helmed the un-picked-up pilot of “Football Wives” for ABC.
Singer also directed the pilot and third episode of “House” and remains an exec producer of the show. He was an exec producer of ABC’s “Dirty Sexy Money” as well.
Fuller’s vision for “The Munsters” is as an hour-long show, not the half-hour comedy the 1960s series was. We’re guessing it will have a lot of the same sweet-sad vibe of Fuller’s previous shows (“Pushing Daisies,” “Wonderfalls” and “Dead Like Me”), along with striking visual elements.
We’re still not sold on whether it will work, but we are rather curious to see what a Fuller-Singer “Munsters” might look like.
