Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton is joining NBC News as a special correspondent — making her the second child of a former president to work for the Peacock’s news division.
Clinton will contribute stories to the “Making a Difference” series that airs regularly on “NBC Nightly News” and will also appear on “Rock Center with Brian Williams,” the network says. She starts immediately.
“I have long been impressed that Brian and his team at NBC place consistent importance on sharing stories of empowerment that in turn, help empower other people and families,” Clinton says. “I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this tradition.”
The “Making a Difference” segments on “NBC Nightly News” put the spotlight on people and organizations who are taking small, and sometimes big, steps toward making their communities better. Recent pieces have focused on an effort to encourage people to buy from businesses owned by veterans and a 7-year-old go-kart racer who’s raising money for cancer research.
Clinton is the second daughter of a former president NBC News has hired in recent years. Jenna Bush Hager, the daughter of George H.W. Bush, contributes to the “Today” show.
