Monday’s (Oct. 31) Halloween episode of “Dancing With the Stars” certainly had some scary moments. Was it the asylum Tango? The costumes? No. It was the video package from this week’s Team Paso rehearsals.
We all know pro dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy has a short temper, and he’s been frustrated by partner Hope Solo‘s progress. He may have defended her to the judges last week, but he seemed to swing the other direction when he shoved her during rehearsals. Zap2it was at the live taping last night, and we got some reactions from their fellow dancers.
Tristan MacManus says despite the fighting, the team pulled it all together. But when the shove was brought up, his partner Nancy Grace exclaimed that nothing similar would ever happen with her. “That’s a different matter. That’s something that shouldn’t be done,” MacManus says. “No matter if you’ve been dancing for however long or just new to dancing, that shouldn’t happen. I know as much as everyone else knows, but certainly viewing it that way [in the video package] it’s something that shouldn’t have happened.”
In the video package, pro Derek Hough took over training Hope after Maks stormed out. He tells us that everyone was helping everyone, but when we asked if Maks was too rough, he said, “It’s not really our say.”
Troupe member Teddy Volynets, who was trained by Maks, took over training Hope this week because of an injury. He weighed in as well: “Listen, if I was in Maks’ shoes, I’d probably speak the very same way to Hope.” He also defends Maks’ reaction to the judges last week, saying that he admires Maks for saying what he feels.
Solo herself doesn’t seem to have a problem with it. “Hello, we’re here for the seventh week,” she says. “We’re getting OK scores. You
wouldn’t want to see me if he wasn’t tough on me. I’d be like, uh, I
don’t know what I’d be out there on the dance floor.”
Let us know what you think. Was Maks too rough on Hope? Are the results all that matter? Spill your guts below.
