Despite a missing persons report, country singer Mindy McCready says she’s not missing and she did not kidnap her 5-year-old son.
The report was initially filed Tuesday (Nov. 29) by Florida Department of Children and Families after McCready took her son Zander from the child’s home in Cape Coral, FL. McCready does not have child custody, rather her mother does.
“I am working with lawyers to try to get all this straightened out,” she tells Access Hollywood. “I did not steal my child, as it would be impossible for me to kidnap what already belongs to me! There never was any missing persons report and never an Amber Alert.”
The AP is reporting that a Florida judge is requiring McCready return the child by Thursday (Dec. 1) afternoon.
McCready has a history of legal troubles, having been arrested a number of times for drug possession, battery, unlawful imprisonment and probation violation. She first emerged on the country music scene in 1996 with the multi-platinum album “Ten Thousand Angels.”
