We would like to make one thing clear: If we were to make a list of women who are talented and awesome and gorgeous enough to play the iconic Wonder Woman on television, Erica Durance would be No. 1 on said list.
We would like to make one other thing clear: After viewing David E. Kelley‘s 2011 “Wonder Woman” pilot starring Adrienne Palicki, if we were to make a list of people talented and awesome and capable enough to write the character of Wonder Woman for television… Kelley would not be on that list.
His pilot was bad, you guys. Really, really bad.
So let’s just say our reaction was mixed when we learned that Durance has been cast as Wonder Woman on Kelley’s NBC lawyer drama “Harry’s Law.” Kind of. TVLine was first to report that Durance will be playing a delusional vigilante who genuinely believes she is Wonder Woman, as she seeks revenge on domestic violence offenders.
Don’t get us wrong — “Harry’s Law” is a fantastic show and Kelley is more than successful in his role there. We just don’t want him touching any DC Comics hero ever again. Is that so much to ask?
Durance’s mentally ill character will appear in the season’s 11th episode, set to run after the holidays when the show airs in its new timeslot on Sundays at 8 p.m.
No word yet on whether the “Smallville” heroine will don the famous Wonder Woman costume for the role, but we’re guessing Kelley has access to a redesigned version that just might do the trick. Or, you know… not.
