On January 27, fans of “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” will finally return to the arena after a long delay — which, thankfully, was eased by the prequel series, “Spartacus: Gods of the Arena.”
When “Spartacus: Vengeance” returns, our hero will look a little different. After the late, great Andy Whitfield stepped down from the role in 2010 to focus on treating his cancer, Liam McIntyre took on the role.
The trailer features new footage from the series as well as interviews with the cast and producers.
“Spartacus is about to embark on this journey where he has to embrace leadership,” McIntyre says. “There is a certain underlying need for these people to stay together. A bond that is, in a way, unbreakable.”
“Not everybody is on the same page about what they should do, where they should go,” adds creator Steven S. DeKnight. “[But] even when they come to blows, they are together in the sense that they belong to the brotherhood.”
