In the magazine, Carell’s “Date Night” co-star, Tina Fey, fetes him in an essay:
“When we were shooting Date Night (or as it’s called in Germany, Fig Nacht), Steve gave me the most excellent birthday present: eight frozen Gino’s East deep-dish pizzas. Like Steve, Gino’s East pizza got its start in Chicago, where people know pizza. Like Steve, they are stuffed full of goodness.”
Although Carell made his final appearance as “The Office’s” Michael Scott in April 2011, he’s been steadily building a movie career in tandem with his TV work. In 2011, Carell both starred in and produced “Crazy, Stupid, Love” in which he played a recently divorced 40-year-old-ish non-virgin who gets a life makeover courtesy Ryan Gosling.
Carell’s next project is “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World,” a comedy about a man seeking his childhood sweetheart ahead of a projected asteroid crash.
