Taylor Lautner is trading in his “Twilight” blockbusters for a role in an arty independent flick. The Hollywood Reporter says Lautner is finalizing a deal to pair up with director Gus Van Sant (“Psycho” remake, “Milk”) for a small-budget film based on a New Yorker article that Lautner optioned.
Details on the plot are not available yet, but sources tell THR that an announcement is forthcoming this week as to the script writer. Filming will hopefully be conducted in early 2012.
Perhaps Lautner wanted to try a different route, since the only other thing he’s really done other than the “Twilight” franchise began is “Abduction,” which performed disappointingly at the box office at $26.8 million.
