breaking dawn tv spot bella edward Box Office: 'Breaking Dawn' can't be beatenYet again, “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1” took the Box Office title on Friday (Dec. 2). The third installment of the “Twilight” movies couldn’t be beaten by family-friendly films like “The Muppets” or “Hugo.” Actually, family fare took up most of the positions in the Top 10 on Friday, with “Arthur Christmas,” “Jack and Jill” and “Happy Feet 2” all claiming slots.

“Breaking Dawn” made an estimated $5.5 million on Friday night, with “The Muppets” taking second place and $2.7 million, followed by “Hugo” in third with $2 million.

If those numbers seem low to you, that’s because they are. We’re on track to have the lowest movie-going weekend of the year. Then again, that’s normal for this weekend — receipts are on par with last year at the same time.

The rest of the Top 10 looked like this:

4. “Arthur Christmas,” $1.6 million

5. “Jack And Jill,” $1.5 million
6. “The Descendants,” $1.4 million
7. “Happy Feet 2,” $1.4 million

8. “Immortals,” $1.3 million
9. “Tower Heist,” $1.2 million
10. “J Edgar,” $710,000
