Recently one of the “Bachelor” franchise couples that we actually thought might make it, Ali Fedotowsky and Roberto Martinez, broke it off. “Bachelor” host Chris Harrison tells Access Hollywood that he doesn’t think it was faked at all.
“I get a little upset when people say, ‘Oh, another one bites the dust,'” says Harrison. “That’s not the case … they very much loved each other. They were trying to bulid a life in San Diego and it didn’t work out.”
AH’s Billy Bush posits the theory that as a happy couple with no drama, they were off the magazine covers. Now that there’s a break-up, bam – back on the magazines.
“I think that speaks in large part to the popularity to the show,” says Harrison. “There is this 365-day-a-year news cycle now of the people on our show. These last couple years it’s become this phenomenon where the tabloids have kind of followed the people on our show … It’s a big story. Obviously, it must mean something. I think that has less to do with [Ali and Roberto] and more to do with the insatiable appetite [of the tabloids and their readers].”
