Unfortunately, it appears that legendary singer Etta James‘ condition has taken a turn for the worse, right in the middle of the holiday season. As we know, James is currently suffering from Hepatitis C, dementia, and incurable final-stage leukemia.
The 73-year-old singer was being treated by live-in, round-the-clock doctors at her home in Riverside, CA, until Thursday (Dec. 22) when reports surfaced that James was rushed to the hospital.
CNN tweeted, “An update on Etta James: Her manager tells CNN that she’s been taken to the hospital – her husband and sons are with her.” The husband and sons are currently at odds over how to manage James’ care, and her fortune.
Here’s hoping that her situation doesn’t worsen further this week.
James’ reps issued the following statement early this month: “Etta has a
terminal illness. She’s in the final stages of leukemia. She has also
been diagnosed with dementia and Hepatitis C. She’s in a home right now
and mostly sleeps. She is under the care of a live-in doctor from
Riverside Community Hospital and two others who have placed her on
oxygen. Her husband is with her 24 hours a day, and her sons visit
regularly. We’re all very sad. We’re just waiting.”
