With “The Oprah Winfrey Show” off the air, and now “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” canceled, who is going to give people free stuff!?
That’s right — ABC has axed the long-running “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” they announced via press release on Thursday. Now in its 9th season, the show was relegated to Friday nights this year, which is never a good sign in TV land.
The final two episodes are set to air on Friday, January 6 and Friday, January 13. The final episode sees the “EM:HE” team travel to Joplin, Mo. to build seven homes for seven families whose lives were destroyed by the horrendous tornado in May 2011.
“During its run, the quintessential feel-good reality show transformed the lives of thousands of deserving families and galvanized communities and businesses to help their neighbors in need,” ABC says in the release, noting that the show “also put a spotlight on causes that touched these families, ranging from the treatment of serious illnesses or accident victims and the importance of foster care and adoption, to helping veterans struggling with post-traumatic stress and the plight of the homeless, to campaigning against texting while driving and building coalitions to end bullying.”
