Sinead O’Connor has already poured her heart out about what caused her brief, 16-day marriage to fall apart. Despite saying she wouldn’t comment further about it, though, she’s gone ahead and talked about it more.
The marriage to Barry Herridge “felt like I was living in a coffin,” she says, according to the U.K.’s Sun newspaper. “It was going to be a coffin for both of us and I saw him crushed. The whole reason I ended it was out of respect and love for the man.”
She reiterates her claim that outside pressure also contributed to the split, but O’Connor also says it probably wasn’t a good idea to go searching for marijuana in Las Vegas after the wedding ceremony. Hindsight and all.
“We ended up in a cab in some place that was quite dangerous,” O’Connor says. “I wasn’t scared — but he’s a drugs counselor. What was I thinking? Then I was handed a load of crack. Barry was very frightened — that kind of messed everything up a bit really.”
Funny how that happens.
