Get your old concert T-shirts out of storage and dust off the strategically ripped jeans: Van Halen is going on tour — with David Lee Roth.
Details are scant at the moment, but a few videos on the band’s website say that tickets for a 2012 Van Halen tour go on sale Jan. 10. The videos are snippets of singles from “1984” and feature Roth, Eddie and Alex Van Halen and Eddie’s son Wolfgang — who’s stepping in for Michael Anthony on bass — rehearsing and goofing around. (The “Jump” clip is below.)
This permutation of Van Halen toured previously in 2007 but had to cut it short when Eddie entered rehab. Until that happened, though, the band was getting mostly solid reviews.
There’s no word yet on how long the tour will last or where the band will travel. Van Halen signed with Interscope Records in November, and rumors have been circulating that they’ll record a new album as well.
What do you think of the news? Would you like to see Diamond Dave and the band once more?
