It wasn’t just movie and television stars out at the afterparties for the Golden Globes. “Game of Thrones” author George R.R. Martin was out having a good time last night (Jan. 15th) as well. The LA Times chatted with the famous author about how the show has affected his view of the characters he created.
Martin was asked if Golden Globe-winner Peter Dinklage‘s performance changed how he viewed Tyrion Lannister. “Not Peter specifically,” Martin said. “Peter is very close to the character described in the books.” We have to agree, as fans of both the novels and the show.
One actress did change how he looks at one of his creations. “Harry Potter” alum Natalia Tena, who plays Osha made him go from thinking she was “completely wrong” for the role to finding her “mesmerizing.”
For the most part though, he said the characters are “firmly fixed in my head. I’ve been living with them off and on since 1991. It’s hard to displace them.” “Game of Thrones” will return to HBO for its second season on April 1st, 2012.
