jennifer hudson grammys 2011 Jennifer Hudson changes course, says she'd gain weight for right film roleOn second thought, maybe she would do it. Jennifer Hudson, who recently said that she turned down the lead in “Precious” because she didn’t feel like putting on the weight she worked so hard to shed, says she would plump up for the right movie role.

“When I do films, it has to be led by something through me — like my passion for it. I just don’t want to hop into anything. So if I commit myself to something, then it’ll be worth it no matter what character it is,” she tells the AP.

Hudson adds that she and her pro-wrestler fiance David Otunga “didn’t realize how important health was until we were adults. We wanted to make sure we set an example for our son. He’s health conscious, and I am health conscious.”

Hudson, famously lost 80 pounds after her Oscar-winning role in “Dreamgirls.” She now serves as a spokesperson for Weight Watchers. But at the time, the idea of yo-yoing back to play the 300-pound character in “Precious” was of no interest to her.

“And as much as I was moved by this film, I wanted to try a role that had nothing whatsoever to do with my weight,” Hudson tells Uptown Magazine.
