Blue Ivy Carter already has lots of things other newborns lack — two famous parents, a reported six nannies and one heck of an inheritance coming her way. Now she’s got something else (or will soon): A trademarked name.
On Jan. 26, Beyonce and Jay-Z filed an application to trademark the baby’s name with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, a move that would allow them to eventually use it to market a line of baby products, if they so choose.
But they weren’t the first. According to The Washington Post, two other applicants beat them to the punch, but were quickly denied by the office — which may or may not be processing Blue Ivy’s application a bit faster than the usual three to four months.
