Kaia Gerber won’t be skipping school to walk the runway anytime soon. Mom Cindy Crawford has put the brakes on the 10-year-old’s budding fashion career.
“At this point, she’s too young to pursue a career,” Cindy Crawford says. “There aren’t even a handful of jobs for a 10-year-old girl. But if she’s 17 and wants to try it, of course, what can I say?”
Kaia caused a sensation when Versace unveiled a new advertising campaign featuring her as the face of the label’s Young Versace line.
“Like her mother, Kaia has a very special gift. The camera really, really loves her,” said Donatella Versace said in a statement.
At least Kaia is considering her options.
“[Kaia] kind of jokingly said — I’m not even sure if it was jokingly — ‘I might model first because you don’t know how to do anything, but then I want to be a baby nurse.,'” Crawford tells The Daily Front Row, a publication distributed at New York Fashion Week.
Crawford launched her own fashion career at 17, so that will give Kaia time to decide whether or not to follow in mom’s footsteps.
