Polarizing commentator and former presidential candidate Pat Buchanan has announced via an essay on The American Conservative website that he is leaving his job at MSNBC, citing the “incessant clamor from the left” to have him removed from pundit gig.
Buchanan specifically cites his book titled “Suicide of a Superpower: Will America Survive to 2025?,” which had a group called Color of Change saying Buchanan was espousing “white supremacist ideology,” particularly in the chapter titled “The End of White America.”
Speculation that Buchanan would be out of a job soon has been flying since MSNBC President Phil Griffin told the New York Times last month, “The ideas [Buchanan] put forth [in the book] aren’t really appropriate for national dialogue, much less the dialogue on MSNBC.”
Griffin added at the time, “Pat and I are going to meet soon and a decision will be made. Pat is a good guy. Some of his ideas are alarming.”
It looks like a decision has been made.
