Taylor Kinney has landed a lead role in NBC’s drama pilot “Chicago Fire.”
Kinney will play a lieutenant in the Chicago Fire Department and the leader of a squad that’s called in for dangerous and complicated fire and rescue operations, Deadline reports. He joins the previously cast Eamonn Walker, who will play Kinney’s captain.
Kinney has previously played Tyler’s (Michael Trevino) uncle Mason Lockwood on “The Vampire Diaries” and starred in another NBC series, “Trauma,” a couple seasons back. He’s also been dating Lady Gaga for the past several months.
“Chicago Fire” comes from writers Michael Brandt and Derek Haas (“3:10 to Yuma,” “Wanted”), who are executive producing with “Law & Order” creator Dick Wolf.
