In the ongoing chaos that is the Deion and Pilar Sanders divorce, the former NFL star chose to plead his case to the public on Friday (March 2). He spent most of his time focusing on the $200 million civil suit his estranged wife has filed against him and his daughter.
During an interview on ESPN radio, Sanders says, “Where are they going to get that money from? That’s just like me suing a homeless dude for a burger and some fries.”
Sanders was then asked why he thinks Pilar chose the $200 million amount. To this Deion replies, “You wouldn’t be talking about it if it wasn’t such an absurd number.”
It was in Feb. 2012 that Pilar filed the $200 million suit against the Deion and Deiondra, his daughter from another relationship. Pilar claims that the two were hurting her with “emotional weapons” including humiliation, threats and intimidation. She specifically cites a recent Twitter outburst from Deiondra in which she says Pilar is a “gold diggin’ hoe [sic].”
To all this Deion says, “There’s a way to do things and a way not to do things. I don’t use the media as a platform to fight my battles. You know, I speak up for myself. But God fights my battles, and I’m fine.”
