Last week, Oprah Winfrey interviewed Bobbi Kristina Houston Brown on her new profile show, “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” and this Sunday, we’ll see an in-depth interview with Lady Gaga and her mother. After that… we won’t see much of Gaga at all for a while.
The pop star has announced that she plans to take a hiatus from the media for an indefinite period of time. “Other than this interview, Oprah, I do not intend to speak to anyone
for a very long time,” Gaga says in the special, which airs on OWN. “No press, no television.”
Gaga has seemed rather quiet lately. Even her appearance at the Grammy Awards this year was relatively low-key, particularly when compared to the 2011 show, when she was carried down the red carpet inside a makeshift womb. Around that time, the media followed Gaga’s every move, hairstyle, and tweet. Perhaps she was a bit overexposed?
Usually, when a celebrity goes on self-imposed media hiatus (we’re looking at you, John Mayer) it’s because the press has worked against them in some way. It’s interesting to see Gaga choosing to dodge the spotlight of her own volition.
