Because there aren’t enough music-themed shows and game shows out there: Production company FremantleMedia has secured the rights to “Name That Tune,” reports Vulture.
The show tested competitors’ musical knowledge in a head-to-head face-off, and it’s been nearly 25 years since an original episode aired in the U.S.
Fremantle, which has its hand in music-minded ventures like “American Idol,” “The X Factor” and “America’s Got Talent,” isn’t the first to try rebooting the show — MTV gave it a go in 2007, CBS in 2006. Neither came to fruition.
The company has successfully revived “Family Feud” and “Let’s Make a Deal,” and it managed the host transition from Bob Barker to Drew Carey on “The Price is Right.” So perhaps it can succeed where others have failed?
