The excitement that was Tebowmania in Denver may be over. ESPN is reporting that the quarterback will likely be traded once they are able to sign free agent QB Peyton Manning.
It was no secret that Broncos GM John Elway was not a huge fan of Tim Tebow, this despite the fact that he led the team to six straight wins and a playoff birth. Elway, a pure pocket passer in his day, didn’t like Tebow’s rough-and-tumble style and sub-standard passing skills.
As for Manning, the publication is reporting the multi-time MVP is likely to receive a five-year, $95 million contract. Not bad for a guy who just had four neck surgeries in a little more than a year and didn’t play all last season.
Tebow’s trade value is a little bit tough to figure out. He proved that he could win during the season and draw high TV ratings. But he also demonstrated that he lacks many of the fundamentals, completing less than 50 percent of his passes and has a passer rating of just 75.1.
If the football thing doesn’t work out for Tebow, he probably has a standing offer to join “The Bachelor.”
