The “New Girl” actress, who herself recently hosted the comedy show, says Lohan did a “really good job.” She adds that much of the focus has been on Lohan reading the cue cards, something Deschanel thinks isn’t fair.
“There were some people saying ‘She read off cue cards!’ Everyone — the cast members, the host — everyone reads off cue cards,” Deschanel tells EW. “That’s how it’s done, because they change the script right before, so you have to read off cue cards.”
Deschanel isn’t the only one who is defending Lohan. Her former girlfriend Samantha Ronson did the same after comedienne Joan Rivers had some fun at the expense of the “Mean Girls” star.
Ronson writes on Twitter, “Hey Joan Rivers you have collagen older than Lindsay, pick on someone your own age, oh wait, I guess people that old can’t hear.”
But what really matters is how the “SNL” episode did in the ratings. If that’s the measure of success, Lohan did great. Despite (or because of) all of Lohan’s missteps, the show was the highest-rated episode all season.
