Get ready for a very Katy Perry 4th of July: The singer will set off at least one “Firework” when her 3-D movie, “Katy Perry: Part of Me,” hits theaters.
According to the LA Times, Paramount Pictures will release the film July 5, over Independence Day weekend. Crews followed Perry over her 124-date California Dreams tour, which began more than a year ago, and the resulting footage has been cut into the concert performance film. The movie will follow her both on and off stage, but it’s unclear whether it’ll touch upon the breakup of her marriage with Russell Brand.
Paramount had a huge success with Justin Bieber’s “Never Say Never” 3-D movie, but copycats like “Glee: The 3-D Concert Movie” and a Jonas Brothers flick didn’t fare as well.
Perry performed her breakup single “Part of Me,” which she contends is not about Brand, at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards on March 31, where she picked up a statue for Favorite Voice from an Animated Movie.
