Despite being the weekend’s biggest new release, “The Five-Year Engagement” couldn’t overpower “Think Like a Man” on Friday night for the top spot in the April 27th box office receipts. In fact, Zac Efron and his “The Lucky One” military muscles came in second, relegating the Judd Apatow-produced comedy to third place, according to Box Office Mojo.
“Think Like a Man” made $5.5 million in its second Friday of release, followed by “The Lucky One’s” $3.9 million and “The Five-Year Engagement’s” 3.5 million. Rounding out the Top 5 were “The Hunger Games,” still hanging on to box office glory in fourth place with $2.9 million, and the animated new release “The Pirates! Band of Misfits” in fifth place with $2.7 million.
As for two other new releases, “Safe” came in sixth place with $2.55 million, closely followed by John Cusack’s “The Raven,” getting $2.52 million in its first day of release. “Chimpanzee” ($1.6 million), “The Cabin in the Woods” ($1.4 million) and “The Three Stooges” ($1.3 million) take the last three spots in Friday’s Top 10.
