NBC and FOX have both announced new dating shows for their schedules. First up, Eva Longoria is executive producing “Ready for Love,” a show that purports to bring matchmaking to the modern age.
Women will submit themselves for the show via Facebook. Viewers will also be able to interact and engage with the show via 24-hour storytelling on the Facebook pages for the eligible bachelors, the matchmakers and the women looking for love.
Paul Telegdy, president of alternative programming at NBC, says, “We are thrilled to have Eva leading the charge creatively. She has
enlisted the help of the three best matchmakers in the world, each with
their own philosophies and approaches to guiding singles towards love. The show’s innovative format that uses online profiles
and proven matchmakers will provide a better chance for our suitors to
realize connections that will last long beyond the season
You can already start following along with the three men chosen for the show: Ben Patton (http://www.facebook.com/PattonB), an international financier from Dallas; Tim Lopez (http://www.facebook.com/TimJLopez), a member of the popular music group Plain White T’s from Santa Barbara, Calif., and Ernesto Arguello (http://www.facebook.com/arguelloernesto), an entrepreneur with a social vision from Miami.
Bill and Giuliana Rancic will act as hosts of the show, which premieres winter 2012-13.
Meanwhile, FOX is also getting in on the dating show action with “Take Me Out,” which will be hosted by comedian George Lopez.
“Take Me Out” takes 30 women who are introduced to a slate of bachelors. Each woman is at a podium with a switch that controls her light. If she likes a guy, she keeps her light on for him. Just like Motel 6.
Eventually, the men take over choosing the women and eventually the last bachelor standing picks his woman for a romantic date and then the remaining 29 women plus one new one start over the next round.
“Take Me Out” premieres Thursday, June 7 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
