British boy band One Direction won’t be playing at Monday’s (April 9) annual White House Easter Egg Roll, so just calm down.
Apparently first lady Michelle Obama ran into the band at Saturday’s Kids’ Choice Awards in Los Angeles — she was on hand to present the Big Help award to Taylor Swift — and extended the impromptu invite for the band to play at the event held on the White House lawn.
But, alas, the band had to decline due to “prior commitments.” A rep for the band tells Politico that the boys would “love to swing by” during their U.S. tour, which starts May 24.
The theme of this year’s event is “Let’s Go, Let’s Play, Let’s Move,” part of the First Lady’s Let’s Move! anti-childhood obesitity initiative.
