The two women who have been not only the strongest women but arguably the strongest non-pro dancers all season on “Dancing With the Stars” faced off on the Viennese waltz this week. Maria Menounos and Derek Hough went first with a very lyrical waltz, followed by Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas with a more traditional version.
Len Goodman, who is a Viennese waltz traditionalist and quite the stickler on this dance, preferred Katherine’s more traditional offering, praising the amount of content and the amount of time spent in hold. He was critical of Derek and Maria for the lack of those elements.
Carrie Ann and Bruno, on the other hand, were incredibly smitten with Maria and Derek’s lyricality and emotion. Carrie Ann even says, “Sometimes dances speak to you – sometimes they sing to you.”
The scores reflected the judges’ feelings. Len gave Katherine a 9 and Maria an 8, while Carrie Ann and Bruno gave Maria 10s and Katherine an 8 and a 9. So which lady do you think was better? Vote below.
