Supermodel Linda Evangelista and French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault (both pictured above, outside a New York courthouse) have reached a child support agreement, the lawyers told the AP Monday (May 7). The details are being kept under wraps, but Pinault lawyer David Aronson says, “Everybody is very glad that it’s over.”
Pinault and Evangelista have a 5-year-old son, Augustin, nicknamed Augie, born from a four-month relationship between the two back in 2006. Pinault is now married to actress Salma Hayek, with whom he has 4-year-old daughter Valentina. Pinault also has two other children from a previous marriage, Francois and Mathilde.
Evangelista claimed in legal papers that she was spending $46,000 a month on armed bodyguards, a round-the-clock nanny and other expenses on Augie, though what she was actually asking from Pinault was not disclosed. Her lawyer revealed that her $1.8 million-a-year income has dropped significantly because her L’Oreal contract ended.
Pinaul, who is the CEO of the company that owns Gucci, Yves St. Laurent and other fashion lines, earned about $4 million a year and his family’s net worth is estimated to be roughly $13 billion.
The settlement came in the midst of a trial over how much, if anything, Pinault should pay toward the care of their 5-year-old son. Pinault is the CEO of a company that owns Gucci, Yves St. Laurent and other top-flight fashion lines; he’s now married to actress Salma Hayek.
Aronson called $46,000 a month “just ridiculous” and it would certainly be an extravagant amount for Pinault to be ordered to pay, even for New York.
