It was too good to last forever. After 21 years together, three of four original members of Australian kid-focused band The Wiggles are leaving to pursue other projects or, as they claim, “spend more time with their families.”
In a statement posted to the band’s official website, Jeff Fatt (Purple Wiggle), Murray Cook (Red Wiggle) and Greg Page (Yellow Wiggle) announced their intention to stop touring and hand their brightly-colored “skivvies to a new generation of Wiggles.”
But, fear not — there’s still time to see the original line-up. The band will kick off a “Celebration Tour” at the end of May with shows planned for the U.K., U.S., Canada, New Zealand and Australia before new bandmates Emma, Lachlan and Simon suit up for the Wiggles 2.0.
While Jeff, Murray and Greg say they’re quitting to spend more time with their families, we secretly suspect the undue “sexual walkabout” influence of one Jenna Maroney (see below):
