TNT has ordered David E. Kelley‘s medical drama “Monday Mornings” to series, giving the prolific writer-producer his first show on cable.
The series, previously known as “Chelsea General,” will debut next year on TNT and follow a group of doctors in their professional and personal lives, centering on their morbidity and mortality conferences that take place every Monday (hence the title). Kelley co-created the show with neurosurgeon and CNN regular Dr. Sanjay Gupta; it’s based on Gupta’s book of the same name.
The show stars Alfred Molina (“Law & Order: LA”), Ving Rhames (“Mission: Impossible,” “Pulp Fiction), Jamie Bamber (“Battlestar Galactica”), Jennifer Finnigan (“Better With You”), Keong Sim (“Glee”), Emily Swallow (“Southland,” “Ringer”), Bill Irwin (“CSI”) and Sarayu Rao (“Sons of Tucson”).
“Monday Mornings” will be the first medical drama for TNT since it canceled “Hawthorne” last year. It’s scheduled to premiere in summer 2013.
