The “American Idol” Season 11 summer tour doesn’t officially start until July 6 in Detroit, but Zap2it caught up with the Top 10 finalists for a preview of the big extravaganza, which, as of right now, spans three hours. The cast even gave reporters a preview performance of one of the new group numbers, a cover of the One Direction hit “You Don’t Know You’re Beautiful.”
While winner Phillip Phillips hasn’t been able to rehearse too much while he recovers from major kidney surgery (he’s doing “better than expected” and should be back to 100 percent soon), the rest of the gang has been putting in long hours at a North Hollywood rehearsal space.
Phillips walked in to join his castmates after they’d finished their a cappella version of the One Direction song (the real thing will feature a full band with a “sick” drummer, promises Elise Testone), and the group decided they’d sing again and dedicate it to their ailing friend.
