Barbra Streisand hasn’t directed a movie since “The Mirror Has Two Faces” 16 years ago, but the 70-year-old actress has announced that she plans to direct “Skinny and Cat,” a script she’d originally written 25 years ago.
The movie will tell the story of photographer Margaret Bourke-Whiteand and author Erskine Caldwell.
But there’s a catch — Streisand can’t get started until she collects enough money for the independently financed film. Her hope is to collect $20 million and begin shooting in January 2013 with already-signed leads Colin Firth and Cate Blanchett, reports Time.
Streisand had originally planned to star in the film herself opposite Robert Redford, but was derailed when Farrah Fawcett put her own spin on Bourke-Whiteand’s story to TV.
