Queen Elizabeth II may have opted for a more subdued color scheme at the Diamond Jubilee River Pageant on Sunday (June 3), wearing a silver and white coat and hat, but the Duchess of Cambridge picked up the brightly colored slack in a long-sleeved, red Alexander McQueen dress.
With most of the other royal family members donning lighter colors, some folks have suggested that Kate Middleton shouldn’t have made such a bold color choice and that she may have upstaged the queen at her own event.
Middleton wore LK Bennett nude heels with her red frock and a hat by Lock & Co, which she’s worn twice before. She finished off the ensemble with a leather clutch, silver bracelet and a brooch with two silver dolphins.
In a case of “Who wore it better?,” reality star Kim Kardashian was seen in a similar version of the McQueen dress last August while in New York City, though hers was a bit shorter and lacked sleeves. Kardashian styled the dress with a metallic clutch and snakeskin platforms.
Do you think Middleton’s red dress was a good choice for the Diamond Jubilee River Pageant? Do you think she upstaged Queen Elizabeth?
Surely someone would have warned her against the bright hue if the queen would have been irked, right?
