Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford are hosting morning television together once again — for the first time since Gifford left “LIVE! Regis and Kathie Lee” in July of 2000. This time, though, Philbin will be joining his old friend at her new stomping grounds on NBC’s “Today” show.
On Wednesday, Gifford’s usual cohost Hoda Kotb will be replaced in the show’s fourth hour by Philbin. “We just pick up where we left off,” Gifford said, telling Kotb that she and her husband Frank Gifford had dinner over the weekend with Philbin and his wife Joy. “Hoda has an event she has to be at on Wednesday, so for the first time in twelve years, Regis is going to co-host with me on Wednesday. We’ve been together, we’ve done some TV, but we’ve not hosted the show. I’m really looking forward to it.”
She joked that there won’t be much preparation involved. “We’re just going to let him show up and we’ll let the sparks fly. Should be fun.”
