Cameron hinted at the possible filming schedule last month when promoting the 3-D release of “Titanic,” saying that the “Avatar” sequels will focus “on the state of the world and what I think we need to be doing about it.”
Meanwhile, Weaver is also reportedly starring in her friend and former classmate Christopher Durang’s comedy “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike,” officially opening at Lincoln Center’s Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater Nov. 25.
You can also see the actress on the small screen this summer in “Political Animals,” a six-part miniseries premiering next month on the USA network. With her history of playing tough women like “Alien’s” Ellen Ripley, Weaver seems perfect for the role: Secretary of State Elaine Barrish, a divorced former first lady struggling to succeed in Washington and save her family from falling apart.
“Political Animals” premieres on USA July 15.
