He plays Jimmy Palmer, the eager assistant of medical examiner “Ducky” Mallard (David McCallum), who had a heart attack in last season’s finale — which also saw Jimmy’s much-anticipated destination wedding to Bree thwarted by a bomb blast at NCIS headquarters. “Smallville’s” Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders are returning to the CW this fall as co-showrunners of “Beauty and the Beast,” the network’s reboot of the 1980s CBS drama. They join writers/executive producers Jennifer Levin and Sherri Cooper (“Brothers & Sisters”) and will reunite with actress Kristin Kreuk, who played Lana Lang on the long-running Superman series. Nikita” villain Xander Berkeley is joining Syfy’s “Being Human” in an eight-episode arc when the supernatural adaptation of the British series returns for its third season. The “24” alum will play Liam, the father of werewolf Nora’s (Kristen Hager) purebred packmates Brynn and Connor. Seeking vengeance against the vampires, he’ll also play a paternal role in Nora’s very  conflicted new life. [Deadline]
