Just a few weeks after she was unceremoniously dumped from her gig as co-anchor of NBC’s “Today” show, Ann Curry will return Saturday and Sunday to help lead special coverage of the Colorado “Dark Knight Rises” shooting tragedy.
She’ll be joined in Aurora by her successor, Savannah Guthrie, who joined Matt Lauer on “Today’s” couch the day after Curry vacated the spot.
When Curry left the show in late June, NBC promised she would remain an “anchor at large.” On Friday (July 20), Curry also anchored a special edition of “Dateline” and appeared on the “NBC Nightly News” with Brian Williams.
When she left “Today,” Curry apologized to viewers for not being able to “carry the ball over the finish line.”
“They’re giving me some fancy new titles, which essentially means that I’m going to get tickets to every big story we want to cover with a terrific team of my choosing,” she said.
