Charlie Sheen has salvaged his career after an epic meltdown, with his new series “Anger Management” performing solidly for FX. Of course, the sitcom just isn’t enough for Charlie — he’s aiming even bigger.
Now, the actor tells Ryan Seacrest that with Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez vacating their “American Idol” judges’ chairs, Charlie is eying a new gig on the reality competition series. (Never mind that he has nothing to do with music!)
Charlie told Seacrest that “Idol” producer Nigel Lythgoe had mentioned Charlie for the job.
“It kind of came out of
nowhere and I responded with a quote, just to sort of check the
temperature of it or test the waters. Haven’t heard anything back,” he says. “I guess it got some people curious.”
Again, we stress: Sheen has nothing to do with music.
“It seems so out of the blue that it almost made perfect sense. I thought this could be a lot of fun,” he says, noting that he’d be honest but not so scathing as to create “suicidal moments.” He also says that he’d like the producers to match 20% of his salary to two charitable foundations of his choosing if he joined the show.
Would you watch “Idol” with Charlie in the judge’s chair?
