It’s official: There’s no need for the radio anymore. Pomplamoose, the band responsible for some of the Internet’s catchiest mash-ups and covers, did what we all do unintentionally in our heads after a long car ride of radio channel-surfing and mashed up the only two songs currently played on the radio: Gotye‘s “Somebody That I Used to Know” and Carly Rae Jepsen‘s “Call Me Maybe.”
The result? A pleasant, catchy blend of the two songs that will be impossible to get out of your head for a very long time.
The band describes how they managed to put the two songs together in the description for the cover’s YouTube video: “For the chorus, we used the famous chord hits of ‘Call Me Maybe’ but superimposed the melody and lyrics from Gotye’s ‘Somebody That I Used to Know.’ For the verses, we used Gotye’s chords and ‘Call Me Maybe’s’ lyrics.”
What do you think of the result?
