A titan of Hollywood turns 70 on Friday (July 13) as legendary actor Harrison Ford celebrates his 70th birthday and 46th year of acting.
It is hard to imagine what the film, science-fiction and adventure genre would be without Ford’s influence. Well-known and loved for his roles as Han Solo in “Star Wars” and Indiana Jones in “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, Ford continues to have a have an impact in the film industry.
His friendship with George Lucas goes beyond his roles in the two franchises. The friendship reportedly began when Ford was hired to build carpentry for Lucas. He was then granted a supporting role in Lucas’ 1973 film “American Graffiti”.
His most recent film was the 2011 Western film “Cowboys” & Aliens”. Ford recently finished filming “Ender’s Game” where he will play Colonel Hyrum Graff. Other upcoming works include “42”, “Paranoia”, and rumored “Indiana Jones 5”.
Ford is married to actress Calista Flockhart. He has five children and three grandchildren.
