Justin Bieber was ticketed for speeding on a Los Angeles freeway Friday (July 6), allegedly as he was trying to escape some paparazzi.
The California Highway Patrol pulled the 18-year-old pop star over after an L.A. city councilman called 911 to report the chase. Councilman Dennis Zine told police Bieber was driving his Fisker Karma — a $100,000, chrome-colored, extremely easy to spot hybrid sports car — in excess of 100 miles per hour and weaving in traffic on the 101 freeway, according to TMZ.
The photographers chasing him were also speeding, Zine told the cops, and driving on the highway shoulder in an effort to snap a picture. Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, waves off Zine’s assessment, saying Zine is “just a councilman looking for a headline.”
Bieber was ticketed for speeding — Braun says he was going 80 — and reckless driving. The paps resumed their tail of Bieber after the stop, which prompted the singer to call 911 himself. Everyone was pulled over again and told to go their separate ways.
