The 2012 Home Run Derby came down to Detroit Tiger Prince Fielder and Toronto Blue Jay Jose Bautista. Fielder took the crown with a total of 28 home runs to Bautista’s 20. Fielder won both round 2 and the finals, Bautista took the first round.
A total of $615,000 was raised via the State Farm donations – $18,000 for every gold ball hit for a homer and $3000 for every non-gold-ball homer. The money goes primarily to the Boys and Girls Club of America, with other charities earning a little as well.
Congratulations to Prince Fielder. This is his second Home Run Derby title. He also won in St. Louis in 2009. The MLB All-Star Game airs Tuesday night, July 10, at 7:30 p.m. ET on FOX.
