The Thompson family, a.k.a. the self-proclaimed rednecks at the center of TLC’s reality hit “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,” recently welcomed a new addition when Anna, the 18-year-old sister of Alana (a.k.a. “Honey Boo Boo Child”), had a baby girl named Kaitlyn.
The niece of the famous child beauty pageant contestant is already making headlines: Kaitlyn was born five weeks ago with two thumbs on one hand. And according to new tabloid reports, Kaitlyn’s 33-year-old grandmother has been mocking the baby’s birth defect.
But Mama June, the outspoken matriarch who manages Alana’s beauty pageant career and has proven to be quite open and candid on the family’s TLC reality hit “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,” tells People that the rumors are absolutely untrue. She loves her new granddaughter, who was born on July 26 with four fingers and two thumbs on her right hand.
“We have embraced [the abnormality]. It makes Kaitlyn more special to us,” she says.
Alana has weighed in on her new niece, saying “Baby Kaitlyn’s so cute.”
