United States swimmer Lauren Perdue is having an exciting 2012 Summer Olympic games. Not only has the 21-year-old won a gold medal by being part of the 4x200m Freestyle relay, but apparently she’s getting dinner offers from NBA star and national men’s basketball team member LeBron James.
Perdue tweeted on July 26, “Lebron James just invited me to dinner… Um wuuuutttt?!?” She also tweeted the above picture with, “Oh heyy Lebron.” The first tweet has since been deleted, because naturally it attracted quite a lot of attention.
She explains her tweet to the Charlotte Observer, “The basketball players were nice enough to kind of come out and meet the swimmers and take pictures … [LeBron] was kind of joking but he was basically like,
‘Would you like to come eat with me at the dining hall?’ And I said,
‘Um, I’m sorry, I have a curfew. So I turned that one down, yeah.”
We can’t blame the girl for tweeting that. We’d tweet it too. And it’s kind of adorable that he asked her that, even jokingly. She’s a cute girl, why not go grab a sandwich in the dining hall? And it gets even cuter that she had to decline because of curfew. It’s like everybody’s at Olympics Camp!
Perdue adds that LeBron was very gracious and that he clearly wasn’t asking her to anything more than a meal in the Olympic Village dining hall.
