Ron Swanson, get ready to meet your (perhaps) ideal woman.
“Parks and Recreation” has cast Lucy Lawless (“Spartacus,” “Xena: Warrior Princess”) in a Season 5 guest role as a single mom who catches Ron’s (Nick Offerman) eye. Ron has in the past stated a preference for “pretty, dark-haired women,” so Lawless should fit that bill quite nicely. And if her character can cook bacon, well, look out.
Lawless tweeted her involvement with the show on Wednesday (Aug. 15), calling it “kooky, ironic and elegant.” She came close to playing Tammy 1 last season, but her “Spartacus” schedule precluded her taking the part.
Lawless will appear in two episodes of the show as a single mom named Diane who asks the Pawnee parks team to help her with a problem in her neighborhood. Andy (Chris Pratt) and Ron investigate, and Andy notices the spark between her and Ron.
(It’s here that we’ll state our hopes for Andy to compose a “Ron and Diane” song a la John Mellencamp’s “Jack and Diane.”)
Lawless is signed for two episodes will first appear in the show’s third episode of the season, scheduled for Oct. 4. What do you think of the casting?
